Pending Board of Education approval, New Albany High School is proud to announce Mark Solis as the next Head Football Coach, ushering in an exciting new chapter for Eagles Football.
Coach Solis brings more than 30 years of coaching experience, including 23 years as a head coach at five successful Ohio high school programs. Known for building disciplined, competitive teams, he has also earned a strong reputation as a mentor committed to the growth and success of student-athletes both on and off the field.
“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Solis to New Albany,” said Athletic Director Richie Wildenhaus. “He is a proven leader who understands how to build and sustain excellence. Just as importantly, he is an outstanding educator who aligns with our values and vision for our student-athletes.”
A Proven Leader with a Record of Success:
Coach Solis has compiled an impressive 169–83 career record, a 67% winning percentage, and 15 playoff appearances. During his tenure at Olentangy High School, he led the Braves to eight consecutive playoff appearances, multiple Coach of the Year honors, and deep postseason runs, including a regional final and Final Four appearance.
Across his career—including leadership roles at Ashland Crestview, Elyria, Twinsburg, Lorain, and Olentangy—Solis has consistently elevated programs through a focus on player development, accountability, and team culture.
Most recently, he has served in key assistant coaching roles at Hilliard Davidson High School, coordinating both defense and offense and continuing to expand his expertise in today’s evolving game.
A Philosophy Grounded in Growth and Relationships:
For Coach Solis, coaching is about far more than football.
“Coaching is simply an extension of the classroom,” Solis shared. “It’s an opportunity to help student-athletes become the best version of themselves and reach their full potential.”
His approach emphasizes discipline, accountability, and a process-driven mindset—where standards are clear, effort is earned, and every player understands the purpose behind the work. Central to his philosophy is building strong, authentic relationships with players, families, and the community.
Building on a Strong Foundation
Coach Solis joins a New Albany program built on pride, tradition, and community support—qualities he has long admired.
“New Albany has always stood out,” he said. “The toughness, determination, and pride of the players, along with the support of the community, make this a special place.”
His vision for the Eagles centers on continuous improvement, strong organization, and clear communication—developing a program that competes at a high level on Friday nights while preparing student-athletes for success in the classroom and in life.
Looking Ahead:
Eagles Football will continue to build on its strong foundation while striving for even greater success in the years ahead.
“Coach Solis brings experience, energy, and a clear vision for our program,” Wildenhaus added. “We are excited for the future and confident in his leadership.”
The New Albany community will have the opportunity to meet Coach Solis in the coming weeks, with details to be announced soon.
