The New Albany Athletic Department announces the resignation and retirement of Johnny Ulry as Head Boys Soccer Coach at New Albany High School.

Coach Ulry steps away following 11 seasons of extraordinary leadership, during which the Boys Soccer program established itself as one of the premier programs in Ohio. His tenure was defined by sustained excellence, competitive consistency, and a standard that became synonymous with New Albany Soccer.

Under his direction, the Eagles compiled an impressive 175-34-12 overall record, captured 8 conference championships, 7 district titles, 3 regional championships, and made multiple deep postseason runs, including 2 state runner-up finishes and the program’s crowning achievement, a State Championship in 2024. Along the way, Coach Ulry mentored 14 All-State players, 6 All-Americans, and multiple State Players of the Year, while earning repeated recognition as Conference, District, and State Coach of the Year.

Beyond the wins and championships, Coach Ulry built a program rooted in daily excellence. His teams were known for discipline, toughness, accountability, and a commitment to doing things the right way. These were traits that extended far beyond the field and into the lives of the young men he coached. The expectations he set elevated the program annually and created a culture that will endure well into the future.

Coach Ulry expressed deep gratitude to the players, families, and community for their support throughout his time at New Albany and has pledged his assistance in ensuring a smooth transition as the program moves forward.
