The New Albany Athletic Department proudly recognizes and celebrates the exceptional career of Marc Thomas, who has served as the Head Boys and Girls Tennis Coach from 2011 to 2025. After 14 years of remarkable leadership and dedication, Coach Thomas is stepping away from his role at New Albany to become the Director of Tennis and Head Coach at Otterbein University.

Marc Thomas has been the heart of our tennis program, building a legacy defined not only by wins and championships, but also by integrity, mentorship, and his profound impact on student-athletes. His influence has shaped the lives of hundreds of Eagles and elevated the sport of tennis throughout the New Albany community.

Under his guidance, New Albany Tennis has become one of the premier programs in the state of Ohio. His coaching résumé is simply extraordinary:

Coach Thomas was also recognized with some of the most prestigious honors in HS coaching:

Clair Muscaro Award for Sportsmanship in Coaching: 2016, 2022

OTCA and National Federation of Coaches Ohio Coach of the Year: 2017, 2023

Columbus Dispatch High School Tennis Coach of the Year: 2018, 2021, 2022

Athletic Director Richie Wildenhaus shared, “Marc Thomas is one of the most accomplished and respected coaches in the history of our department. His legacy is not only reflected in titles and awards but in the way he cared for and developed his athletes as people. We are grateful for all that he has given to New Albany and we wish him the very best in this next chapter.”
