New Albany Athletics is proud to announce the selection of Mitchell Goodin as the next Head Ice Hockey Coach for New Albany High School.
Coach Goodin has been a key member of the Eagles’ hockey program for the past six seasons, serving as an assistant coach. His deep experience in the sport extends beyond New Albany, with a strong coaching background at the club level across various age groups. Throughout his time with the program, he has demonstrated a passion for player development, a commitment to teaching the game the right way, and a strong understanding of the values that matter most in building a successful team.
In his new role, Coach Goodin will lead the effort to build the culture of New Albany Hockey. His goal is to instill pride, accountability, and a shared identity that reflects the best of what it means to be an Eagle will be built upon Coach Goodin’s strong foundation as a New Albany High School graduate.
“I’m incredibly honored to take on this opportunity,” said Coach Goodin. “I’m excited to build a strong culture where our student-athletes are not only challenged to grow on the ice but supported as young people. I can’t wait to get started and continue building a program our school and community can be proud of.”
Athletic Director Richie Wildenhaus shared his enthusiasm for the hire:
“Mitchell has been a steady and dedicated presence in our hockey program for years, and I’m thrilled to see him step into this leadership role. His vision for the team and his commitment to shaping a positive, competitive culture align perfectly with our goals. I look forward to watching our hockey program continue to evolve and grow under his leadership.”
Coach Goodin will begin his head coaching duties immediately and will work directly with the athletic department on setting a vision and plan for the future of the program. Information regarding a player/parent meeting will be shared soon.
Please join us in congratulating Coach Goodin on this exciting new chapter!
